Soccer Shin Guards

Buying the right shin guard is nothing to take lightly. The two primary styles are slip-in guards and pull-on guards with ankle protection.

• Slip in guards are portable and light weight. These guards fit over shins and are held in place by compression sleeves, snug socks, or guard tape. These guards are primarily used by more experienced players as they offer a greater degree of mobility and flexibility. 
• Ankle guards have pads on both sides of the ankle and offer a greater degree of protection. These guards are secured in place by stirrups under the feet and with straps that velcro around the calves. These are primarily used by younger or less experienced players.
